BluesPoetry

BluesPoetry
I'm 61 you know
Roger Maris hit 61 homers
I want you to think about that because
I hit a lot of homers in my youth
And thats the truth but only my truth
Yes I'm 61 hoping to make 80
I think thats important in the or grand scheme of life
Life has all kinds of stories, death only has one
I like Micky Mantle better but he only hit 60
Gregory Corso wrote " No choice of two roads;
if there were I don't doubt I'd have chosen both"
Funny line in a serious poem from a serious poet
I am not that nor this, just a new poet in and old body
I'm 61 you know
Done a lot in these 61 years
lived and died and lived again
Did some sinnin' near the beginnin
So what. Hasn't killed me yet or has it?
Friends I got by the score x 4
I'm 61 you know but don't remember what happened at 16
Drove my dad's car, drank beer from a jar and maybe kissed Shirley Larsen
I've seen death first hand and maybe caused some too
61 is not old but it sure as hell ain't young
Got a 2 friends one is 62 and one that 65, now that's old
Went to jail twice
Got married twice
Got kids 2 x twice
Figure I have spun the dice
Gonna be 62
Then I can start to feel old like my friends, ya think.
